Music is like painting on silence. Like creating sonic booms in the intimate space of your soul. Like sculpting with the shockwaves of thunder and the epiphany of lightning.
ROBERT LIPPOK is a universal artist in the true sense of the word: painter, carver, creator. He sometimes notates his music pieces with pencils and water color or meditates on the shape of their sounds by working on clay sculptures. Starting out in the underground scene in the GDR, where as a teenager he founded the band Ornament & Verbrechen, his instruments of choice were a big plastic can and a handful of Lego bricks. They were followed by clarinets and clavinets, laptop and synthesizer, hammer and chisel, and whatever seemed to be useful for creating turmoil and soothing hearts.
Time and time again, ROBERT LIPPOK proves to be an incredibly versatile artist. As a musician he's able to adapt to a range of different styles, tones, and techniques. As a set designer he works for the most renowned theaters in Berlin and beyond. His latest major work, the album Applied Autonomy, has just been released on electronic music's prime label Raster and will be celebrated at OHM Gallery with a special live performance.
FRIEDRICH ANDREONI likes pencils and clavinets, too. Still, he prefers to work with a high power welding unit. For KOOKOO, he will use it to build a site-specific installation with a number of metal arches, massive and fragile at the same time. Fine artists and KOOKOO regulars YUKIHIRO TAGUCHI and CARLY FISCHER will also show some of their newest works, and some more thunder and lightning will be caused by MIEKO SUZUKI and ARA.
Let me steal this moment from you now...
Let's go KOOKOO!
